I think our ( UK ) mil . felt they were basically peace keeping troops between the US and Iraq . If al-Sadr emerged on top , so be it . The UK people had/have no quarrel with Iraq since Iraq left Kuwait ; or for that matter ,a problem with Iran .Or Afghanistan . Or Pakistan . No wonder we feel proud to be European , and Commonwealth . Having said which , I detest the current incarnation of the EU and await the call to take up my pitchfork and attack its lair .
