This blog has reached 2,000 blog posts, and I'll use this figure for some celebration after sleeping over the 10 year anniversary in May, 2017. (Nobody reminded me! -.- )
I'm still on my mission:
- Promote peace.
- Push back against the encroaching of authoritarian features in Western societies, especially Germany.
- Warn about mediocrity and complacency, an unsatisfactory state of affairs in regard to Western
military forcesarmed bureaucracies. - Share interesting or amusing stuff
By the way, as part of #1 I guest-blogged once more:

Well done. 2000 posts is a helluva landmark, and some of them are very high quality. You could probably fill a book with everything you've written.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, have you seen the new storys hitting the headlines? More specifically, items like this: http://www.newsweek.com/new-way-countering-putin-gas-gas-gas-645408
Why are the americans so afraid of europe (and more specifically, germany) becoming energy independent? Are these sanctions waged in an effort to prevent them from being influenced by russia? Or are they waged to keep germany weak and compliant? The nord stream seems to have real geopolitical significance.
I'm not sure how much about the LNG supply side is about profit and how much is government-induced.
DeleteThe latter seems to be important for LNG import facilities and maybe for the Russian liquefaction (export) facility.
Overall, LNG may very well end up being a transition story anyway. In the long term (post-2030) it would be nice to generate lots of LH2 in Southern Spain on Crete and Rhodes. They have nearly 1,900 kWh/sqm annual solar energy input.
Profit of american business is of secondary importance only. Its mainly about the americans trying to keep germany on a tight leash. You know how these washington pricks think: They see germany buying russian LNG and treat it as a sign of betrayal. As a threat to their idea of what the balance of power should be.
DeleteThink about it, sven. If germany and russia ever become non-hostile (or god forbid, even friendly) towards each other, would that not upset U.S. plans for the region? Why else would they aim sanctions at companys doing business with gazprom? This topic is worthy of a full blog post!
Congratulations! It's a high mark, keep them going.
ReplyDeleteCongrats
