It's hard to get on information on the situation in Iraq and Syria, but from these reports, it seems to have a lot in common with how groups in Africa operate with their child soldiers in the frontlines and a core of professionals behind. Notorious among these groups is the LRA. Could you perhaps write a summary on what we know about this African warfare qand similar historical experience, that will help to better understand the current struggles with IS and Boko Haram. Demographics of these regions certainly do play a role, but also the reports about the numbers of fighters are too low to occupy. There must be a group of militia volunteers serving with a professional core.
